The European payment service Bluecode and the leading provider of in-car payment and digital fueling, ryd, are now collaborating to further digitize payments at gas stations across Germany and Austria. Drivers can already pay for their refueling directly via the Bluecode app, and soon through other Bluecode-compatible apps—easily, quickly, and without cash or cards.
By integrating ryd’s technology into the Bluecode platform, paying at the pump, including at gas stations such as Aral, Esso, HEM, Q1, and bft, becomes even simpler. Users simply select the gas station and pump in their Bluecode-compatible app that supports the new feature, pay via the app, and can immediately continue. The payment is debited from their linked bank account. Transactions follow the rules of the European payment service Bluecode, ensuring no sensitive data circulates. Additionally, an overview of all participating gas stations as well as fuel prices is also available.
The collaboration with ryd is part of Bluecode’s strategy to create better payment experiences for users in daily life and make these features accessible to its partner network. From combining loyalty programs with payment in supermarkets to purchasing digital vouchers and parking tickets, or paying at gas stations – Bluecode covers a wide range of use cases. This supports Bluecode’s banking partners, retailers, and other app providers in developing their own customer apps into super apps.

As an initial step, the fueling function is now available in the Bluecode app. Banks and other providers can also benefit from the collaboration between the two European companies. By integrating Bluecode into existing banking apps and other apps, their customers can also enjoy diverse payment options and added value. This European ecosystem benefits all stakeholders in the payment process—users, banks, and merchants alike.
